    中国和印度均为历史悠久、幅员辽阔、人口众多的发展中大国。长城和泰姬陵并列世界七大奇迹，是两国璀璨文明的伟大见证；法显、玄奘西行求经，谱写了两国人文交流的传奇佳话；先后实施改革开放以来，两国的社会经济发展更是震惊了世界。中国、印度同为重要的新兴经济体和金砖国家成员，拥有高互补性的产业结构，在多、双边经贸合作领域拥有广阔前景和巨大潜力。

    近年来，中印贸易和投资合作持续稳定发展。双边贸易从2000年的29亿美元快速增长到2012年的665亿美元，12年间增长了22倍。中国已成为印度第一大贸易伙伴，印度在中国贸易版图中的地位也日益突显。在经济合作方面，印度2006年至2011年连续6年位列中国海外承包工程市场首位，截至2012年年底，中国在印累计签订工程承包合同额601亿美元，完成营业额335亿美元。中印双向直接投资也取得了积极进展。两国的经济贸易合作成功地实现了互利共赢，成为了两国友好关系的重要基石。

    China and India are both developing countries with long history, broad territory and large population. The Great Wall and the Taj Mahal are on the list of Seven Wonders of the World side by side, witnessing the brilliant civilization of the two countries; Faxian and Xuanzang acquired treasurable Buddhist texts from India along the Silk Roads despite all difficulties, composing the legend of cultural exchange between the two countries; With reform and opening up since 1980s, the two countries have achieved amazing social and economic development which shocks the whole world. As important emerging economies and members of the BRICS, China and India whose industrial structures are highly complementary are facing broad prospects on economic and trade cooperation.
    In recent years, by strengthening bilateral friendly cooperation relationship, the two nations’economic and trade cooperation has been enhanced dramatically, featured with fast-increased trade volume from $2.9 billion in 2000 to $66.5 billion in 2012. China becomes the first largest trade partner of India, and India is also important trade partner of China. Meanwhile, enterprises from both countries have achieved significant progress on cooperation in the fields of project contracting and two-way investment. By the end of 2012, China’s accumulated contracts amount of project contracting with India reaches $60.1 billion, and the turnover reaches $33.5 billion.
    More and more enterprises from both countries are aware of the huge potential of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of Chinese Embassy in India is dedicated to facilitate this cooperation and is willing to provide related information and service for enterprises from both countries.
